Valerie Veatch’s documentary explores the roots of artificial intelligence through the testimonies of more than 30 historians, philosophers, sociologists, journalists and researchers. In this monumental work, she traces the origins of this technology, linking it in particular to the eugenicist views of certain founding fathers of Silicon Valley. At the same time, she is mindful of the environmental costs and human exploitation inherent in the development of AI. An unsettling, yet necessary, exploration aimed at gaining a better understanding of the civilisational change imposed by this technological El Dorado.
